Taft-Hartley Pension Fund

New Fund Administrator Needed

The Trustees of a Taft-Hartley Pension Fund seek a Fund Administrator to manage the operations and administration of the Pension Fund. The Pension Fund has 3,000 Participants, 2,100 retirees, and $500 million in assets. The Administrator would also administer a 401(k) plan and a staff pension plan.

The Administrator’s primary responsibilities are as follows: determine that all employment and related records pertaining to participants are accurate and that participants and beneficiaries receive correct and timely pension and survivor benefits; have a commanding knowledge of the plan documents and a working knowledge of ERISA and other laws relating to pension plans; be available to and personally interact with participants respecting any and all questions regarding plan benefits and review and meet with retiring participants regarding their applications for retirement benefits; work closely with and respond without delay to the Fund’s service providers, i.e. actuary, accountant, money managers, custodian of assets, and attorney; arrange for and attend monthly and special meetings of Trustees and give written and verbal reports regarding relevant Fund matters; and hire and manage a staff of employees to assist the Administrator in performing the responsibilities of that position.

Qualifications

The applicant must possess a very good educational record, a college education would be a plus; a solid work history supported by quality recommendations from prior employers; excellent analytical and problems solving skills; experience with accounting principles; an ability to understand reports from all service providers and consultants; an engaging personality – dedicated to assisting and interacting with participants; and excellent managerial and organizational skills. An applicant must be detail oriented and computer literate. Prior experience in administering a pension fund and/or knowledge of the regional construction industry would be a plus.
