2009 Plumbing Industry Application
Today many of our most promising young people cannot attend college
due to financial barriers. Developing the next generation of leaders will
require supporting qualified students who are driven to learn yet may not
have the resources to continue their studies. Therefore, the board of
directors of the Plumbing Council of Chicagoland has decided to sponsor
four $2,500 scholarships annually. These scholarships will be awarded
to a Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union Local 130, U.A. family
member (including if member is a legal guardian of the applicant).
Members must be in continuous good standing membership and must
work for a company under contract with Local 130. Family members of
the employees of the Plumbing Council, Plumbing Contractors
Association or the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union 130, U.A. and
Plumbing Council Contractors are eligible.
Winning a scholarship can be an effortless way of boosting the recipient’s
income. Though the competition for the scholarship will be high, it is
definitely worth applying. You could increase your annual income by as
much as $2,500. Awards will be based on academic achievement and
potential, character, leadership, social awareness and career goal and in
the event of a tie between applicants, financial need will be considered.
An independent expert from Loyola University Scholarship Program will
review all applicants and decide the final recipients. We thank him in
advance for his assistance and expertise on behalf of our industry. This
program includes high school graduates and students pursing an
undergraduate degree currently attending an accredited college or
university. All applicants will be notified and the scholarship winners will
be featured in the Plumbers Quarterly Newsletter.
